'97 F350, and the door won't open when you use the inside handle (outside one works fine). In the past, people have said that a missing or broken piece is the culprit. I took off the door panel. All I saw was a bunch of metal from the door frame in my way. I can lift up the door handle, but it won't disengage the clasp mechanism.

Does anyone have any idea about how to fix this? If you're going to suggest the washer trick, please post detailed instructions (pictures?) because I'm, well, not able to picture it well enough to fix it. Thanks

Had same problem. There is a cable from the handle assembly to the door latch assembly that may have stretched. I found by rolling the metal cable attachment point with a pair of channel locks I was able to effectively shorten the cable and get the door opening from the inside.
