I am kind of confused by what you are asking, are you saying something like a DPF-R box? If so please, for the sake of your truck just get a Mini Maxx or have someone with an XRT Pro delete it properly, and run a low end tow tune. There are plenty of places you can still get race tuners for under a grand. PM me for info.
The Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) or CAT as you refer to it, is bolted to the front of your DPF, if you get a downpipe back delete exhaust (which run around 300-350) you will have a good clean sound, no cab drone that I have heard and plenty of turbo noise when you want to. Outside the truck it wounds akin to a jet engine at idle ( just quieter). You can also get a "Race Pipe" which will save you about $100 and the tailpipe will still look stock.
I would also recommend an EGR delete as this will prevent exhaust gas (soot) from entering your intake and gumming things up (along with a CCV re-route. Emissions gear on diesels these days make them dirty on the inside and "clean" coming out the tailpipe.
