Hi everyone,

I hear so many things about laws and going to jail and stuff. My question is what are the REAL consequences and has anyone had REAL experience/fines for deleting?

I want to delete both to protect my engine cause I tow a lot, but when reading some people's posts I feel like I'm going straight to Guantanamo bay if I do.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Diesel Stop!!
The choice to delete emissions equipment is a choice to violate federal law.

Will you get caught? I suppose it depends on lots of things. Are you in an area that requires emissions testing? What are the odds that the LEO that may pull you over for a traffic violation may look underneath and notice stuff missing because he has the same truck with everything intact?

In the end, if you can afford the fine, then do as you please. Baretta said it best "don't do the crime if you can't do the time"

I'd be curious to see if anyone posts that they got busted and didn't get a hefty fine. Being told to put the stuff back on by the test station doesn't count in my book.

You won't end up in Guantanamo. LOL!

I have attached an EPA document that might answer your questions.

Thank you for your help and your answers. From reading the article it seems that the final answer if you get caught deleting you owe $3750. My question is has anybody really been caught? not big businesses that manufactured the delete items, but personal people with their trucks and what has actually happened to them?

Am I right in thinking that this is actually going to help extend the life of my truck?
