I installed the draft tube mod. and ran the hose to the back. It`s been on for about 3-4 months. Just tonight I get out to hook up the trailer and notice a heavy cooked oil smell. I get a flashlight and shine it at the tube exit and can see a mist pooring out. Not enough to drip, but a heavy stream of cloudy vapor. I never noticed it before. Did it do that all the time, or did something get stuck in the "black box" that sits on the valve cover?

Mine does the same thing. I am now changing it to a canister/filter under the truck then back to the intake. Can't stand the smell or the look of the smoke at a stop light.

That's pretty normal. Modern diesels run a lot more crankcase pressure than in days past. Even on a brand new engine you will see the breather output. As long as it's not sliming the underside of the truck then the blowby/crankcase pressure isn't anything to worry about.

Be careful not to create a restriction that might in turn cause positive crankcase pressure which could then lead to stressing seals and oil leaks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have made over 60 of the canister type CCV Mods and have never had a problem with one of them as long as my install directions are followed. Check your pm's for info.
