... I found where to drain the water from the diesel, but what I need to know is...

How long does it take to actually drain the water???

I followed all the procedures for draining the water, by unscrewing the diesel cap, then unscrewing the valve to let the stuff drain, but how long does it usually take to stop??? And how much of fuel is going to come out??? When I did all this I had 3/4 of a tank.

I started draining it, and it seems that it was never going to stop, so I plugged it back up and the water light is still on...

Now what?

I always let it drain until it stops and I usually get about 2 or 3 pints of diesel. I drain it once a month. Not a drop of water in mine so far. I use Stanadyne in every tank.

2 to 3 pints seems like a lot to me...

I used the Standyne in my engine one time, and it seemed to make my engine run like crap, and made the engine light keep coming on.

Takes mine about half a minute or so to stop.

You're right, I got my liquid volume numbers mixed up. I use a 32 ounce plastic gatorade bottle with the top cut open wider so I don't get drenched with spilled diesel. It fills it about a third to halfway up or so, so I guess it's about 3/4 to 1 pint.

I've never had any problems with Stanadyne. I have no idea why it caused your engine to act up (assuming it really was the cause).
