I have a small leak of fuel from the back of the engine (at least from lookng from the underside of the engine).

The leak is large enough apparently to let air into the system after sitting for a few hours, requireing hitting the starter long enough to purge the air from the injection system.

I'm thinking that the biodiesel has finally taken it's toll on the fuel return line to the tank.

Am I correct in thinking this?

And if so, where is the line located so I can put in a Viton replacement? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Thanks again for all your input.

Most likely it's the fuel return cap o-rings leaking. It's very common, as the o-rings harden with age. I've had em leak so bad the fuel just ran off the engine.

If that's the problem you need the "injector install kit" http://www.mwfi.com/dieselPage/ford_69.htm

If I recall correctly, the return is only a very short piece of rubber line that connects to the gray plastic fuel line. You'd be able to access the rubber line from the top, dr side.

I don't know that is the problem- ie Mr Roboto may be correct, but nonetheless, that is the location of the return.

Ok, thats just what I need to find out. I need a place to start to look for this leak.

On the o-ring caps, are these on each of the injectors?

If you see no fuel leaks on the oring caps do not disturb them if old, just replace them.

I saw a puddle of fuel near the #6 injector on the engine right where the glowplug sits in the cylinder head.

Just ordered the o-ring replacement kit today from Midwest Fuel Injection.
