My friend just got a Hypertech programmer for his D-max. I advised him to get some guages as well but he said he's just looking for a little more power with the "medium" setting. Will this combination produce damaging EGT's? Is it going to be a problem if he's not towing, working it hard, etc???

YES, a melt down in in the future. Spend the $$ and get the guages. Even if for the entertainment value alone.

I have gauges with my bullydog and I have never seen anything close to be worried about unless I have the 150hp tune. As long as I am running 25-50 I am never close to 1200 EGT or 30 PSI

If he is towing anything he needs gauges.

Even stock and a hefty foot on the pedal can net some good EGT's.

Even moreso if he is at a higher altitude.

$200 for a boost and pyro self installed is pretty good insurance for a nice truck.
