I have called around to three different autozones and a ford dealership and they won't give me a stight answer as to which cable has gone out. The e-brake cable thats connected to the foot pedal thats engages the ebrake is the one thats broken because my foot pedal has no resistenence at all when I step on it...so does anyone know the specific name of that cable?? This is kinda frustrating. Thanks.

Go Here and do a key word search for parking brake. The one you need is the front cable. (At least that's the one I needed when mine was doing what you described.) There is also an intermediate cable and rear cable.

Just climb under the driver's side and you will be able to confirm which cable is broken. Most likely the little doodad on the end of the front cable (holds the cable into the foot peddle assembly) has pulled off the cable.

Are you asking them to tell you what cable is bad, or are you just asking them to look it up. If they can't look up a front cable go somewhere else.
