Took my F350 to town today and stopped to fill up the tanks on the way back out to the house. Turned the key and waited for the "wait to start" light to go off and started the truck no problem. Put it in drive and the overdrive off light started flashing. Haven't noticed any lack of power or slipping of the tranny. Any advice on this would be very helpful. My friends that have the same engine and drivetrain as I do seem to think this could be a very expensive repair. Someone, anyone, please help!!!:ford:

It could be a very expensive repair. It could be a $5 repair. Nobody knows what it is or how much it will cost until you read the codes. There are $25 readers available that can read the codes. Some auto parts stores can read them, too.

AutoZone, Pep Boys and Aamco transmissions used to advertise on T.V. here and because of a lawsuit can't do it in Calif. any more.

check the fluid level ? could be as simple as that.but then you have to look at why.

So I hooked up an ODB1 Tester to the truck and put the key to the on position and it gives me a code of 23. Only thing is the code list I'm looking at says "23 throttle position sensor out of self-test range". Any thoughts?

Either your FIPL is out of adjustment or the truck didn't like what you did with the accelerator pedal when you started the truck. Test your FIPL.

Did you check the connector?

Okay, climbed underneath to check the connection on the neutral/drive switch and it was a little **** eyed. Reseated it and the light went away!! Thanks everyone for your help, I would have been replacing my TPS if it wasn't for you Mark!!!

can you post pics of neutral switch plug ?l
I don't have a photo, but it's not hard to find. It is on the driver's side of the transmission. It is the only part on the driver's side that has a wiring harness attached.

This is what the MLPS ( Manual Lever Position Sensor) looks like.

Ok I found some wires that the rats ( truck was left in the woods in Colorado ) chewed up, its on the intake manifold up front looks like its on the fuel cut off solenoid. Not sure what it is will try to post pictures can anyone tell me what it is , because one of the wires was chewed through and I jumper it with a test wire and now the blinking on OD light is out and transmission shifts fine.
