Even though I have the Baumann Programmable trans computer, the trans has been shifting late and with a clunck. And since my laptop went "belly up", I couldn't reprogram the trans. Well, I thought I'd check the FIPL voltage since it is the only stock sensor that is adjustable. Upon returning from town I checked it and voltage was up to 1.29vdc. I suspect that installing the new voltage regulator and alternator might have increased the systems overall voltage. Well, I set the voltage back down to 1.12vdc, and now it shifts smooth and at correct time. This goes to show just how sensitive the E4OD is to that FIPL voltage. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gifOkieGringo

I would quess that the baumann TCP needs feedback just like the original divice, the diffrence is that the baumannator is programeble...

You still need sensors to shift ie E4OD is shifting electrically ....

I suppose.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The reason my e4od is shifting fine is because I have adjusted the fipl and replaced the punkin sensor. OK so now I don't need the baumann tcs? That's great. $550 is much better off in my pocket than someone else's. I was just trying to anticipate any trouble, with which the e4od seems to have mucho. I like that old saying---"if it aint broke......". Here's another one---"Take care of all the details and the big problems take care of themselves"

They sure are. Several months ago I had a battery dead short on the road and I ran 70 miles after dark, with the lights on with just alternator power. At low speed the trans just wouldn't shift at all, it chattered all over the place between gears etc. Next morning I replaced both batteries and all was well.

The E4OD is a very strong, good trans. It's just that the stock computer is a piece of crap!!! Ford had to put in a program that would apply to a VERY wide set of users, and do it CHEAPLY. The Baumann TCS is programmable by YOU, to suit YOUR driving/towing needs. Also it has 2 "MODES", like the new trucks, so that you can have "Economy"/"Power", or whatever you want to call it. You can adjust it to compensate for larger tires, or different gear ratios in the pumpkins. You can even override the automatic and shift manually by pushing a button 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 etc, and it will stay in whatever gear until you tell it to change. You can also change the line pressure settings to have smooth shifts to tire chirping shifts. Soooo, if you're a "Control Freak" or just want it to shift right, buy it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gifOkieGringo

Also, If you do any work to your trans, I was told that you should upgrade the computer to a newer one to help the trans last. So, by the time you look at another OEM, or a TCS it is about the same. That is the position I took on it after all of the issues I had.
thanks

So have you got your's all set up? I remember a while back you were tinkering with a good towing program, When I get around to my swap I'd like to do the same.
