Hello-

I just got a Ford AIS for my bone stock E99 truck and installed it today, everything went great and easy on the install and I was pleased with how everything looked and bolted in. So I go out to run some errands and I hit the highway and everything seems fine, until I pull a steep hill... I noticed my truck heaving for air on these steep hills, struggling to get enough airflow through the new AIS. I did have a DIY intake with a waterproof Donaldson and filter cover before and it NEVER had any problems with getting enough air, but after ths AIS install she doesn't seem to be getting enough airflow (everything is properly installed too). The filter minder was sucked all the way in as well after my short, unloaded drive. Has anyone with an E99 had this problem? Should I go back to the DIY?

Thanks a ton.

You might need to cut the rubber grill flap in front of the forward snorkle pipe. It's called the zoodad mod. It can suck over the intake.

Wierd. Where does the end of the intake sit? Ya maybe zoodad it.
I believe there is a foam attachment for that intake that seals it to the fender/wheel well. Don't remember for sure.
Obviously there is significant air restriction to draw down the filter minder.
In my 6.0 I always noticed when I put in a brand new filter there was a very slight lag in the pedal. And the minder would drop to the first notch. It would get better in @ 1k miles. Maybe something with those filters being a bit restrictive when new.

Alright so I did some investigating based on the repsonses here and it did turn out to be the rubber shield behind the grille that was almost completely blocking the AIS snorkel. I ended up cutting it away around the snorkel and took the truck out for a test drive and was very happy wtih the results; everything is working perfectly. The rubber sleeve was hard to see without removing the cover on the header panel. This intake really is a lot more quiet than the DIY I had on there, which is nice when crusing down the highway. Thanks again for the help.
