My dealer had a pile of used fuel bowl parts laying around...fuel heaters, drain valves, caps, and even complete assemblies. Last time I needed a fuel heater they gave me a used one free. So check with them before spending a wad. :)

well guys the international part #1831196c92 @ $22.00 looks completly different from the broken ford part.....sure hate to pay $150......any ideas? where do you buy discount ford parts?

Interesting about that part # being different. That's what the cross reference I have comes up with for Ford's F81Z9J294AA which is the internal heater element your truck would use. The very next number 1831197c92, should be the external portion of the fuel heater (inlcuding where the wiring plugs in). Did you double-check the # on the part they sent you?

Good luck.

BTW, many people have run without the fuel heater connected, even thru the winter, indicating it's not necessarily essential.

Ditto what Kevin said. The internal heater element itself is the F81Z-9J294-AA, which crosses over to International's 1831196C92. The external heater (which is really the water in fuel sensor and connector for heater) is F81Z-9J294-BA, which crosses over to International's 1831197C92.

another update, called oregon diesel injection inc. and they discribed their direct replacement ($54.00) and it was exactly like the international part ($22.00). i went ahead and pulled my heater (round disc w/thin wire) and installed international part (1" strap with c-shaped c-rod). plugged everthing in and fired up.....guess the test will come when it i get out in the cold weather.....18" of snow last nite

So it sounds like the configuration was different, but it fit fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I was starting to sweat about that crossover number.
