The light will go out but the code lingers harmlessly. I wouldn't go to ford to have it erased. If it bothers you that it's there, disconnect your batteries for a bit.

Random question. Will that also clear IDM codes? Pulling bats i mean?

I don't believe it will. I'm not 100% sure, but I think those codes are stored differently than the PCM codes and are not volatile.

I pulled the ICP sensor and as you said, the service engine soon light came on. My scanner shows no codes for OBD2 and ABS. It's says no response from the engine. Would the ICP show up on a general OBD2 scan or is it manufacturer specific? Is there a general OBD2 code I can easily trip?

I would think oil temperature sensor code or a CPS code would be generic. You could easily unplug those two and get codes to set and see if you could read them. I'm with bugman on the reader though. I'd toss it or take it back.
