Looking for an ECM pinout for a 1997 F250 7.3. Specifically, Switched power, Ground and TPS input. Installing a US Shift QUICK 4 and a custom tune from DP. Any help is appreciated and I will document the install.

Is your truck a Federal or California model (splishot injectors)? The connector pinouts are completely different. Cheers!

It's not a California truck. Not sure why the pinout is so hard to find, the motorcraft site leaves alot to be desired! I know I can tie in at the PSOM and TPS in the dash but I would like to tie everything in at the ECM for the sake of keeping things clean. I left all my electrical gear at work and was just trying to put a plan together.

What is the Shift Quick 4 going to do that the DP Tuner can't?

It appears that you want to put two different tuners onto the PCM when one will work.

I could be wrong but I think that they can tune the DP to do the shift work that you want.

I have an overdrive issue that has not been able to be solved by me (experienced mechanic) or the local Pro tranny shop. So I was looking at buying a new trans controller and or replacing the wiring harness. Just decided to go with a stand alone controller for trans and chip the truck. This set up will also allow for future upgrades.

Odds are if you have a problem now with the overdrive you will still have the problem with the stand alone controller.

When the trans is commanded to go into fourth gear and it does it works great. Trans is fine. The issue is electrical. I would really like to find the pinout for the PCM. Thanks for all the help.

Probably the Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM). You can get paper versions (my personal favorite type) from Helm Inc. for about $30. The EVTM is invaluable if you plan to work on the truck. You can also find the EVTM on DVD versions of the factory service manuals (available from Helm, ebay, etc). Cheers!

They are just from years of squirreling away what I have found on these forums and on the internet searches. This particular one is over 10 years old.

Thanks for all the help! Everthing is installed and working great! Couldn't have done it without that pinout danialsan, thanks! Found out something new about my truck. If you tap the emergency brake on the side with your foot, the damn thing dies....anyone know what might cause that! What a weird ass truck!

By "thing dies", do you mean the engine stalls? Couple possibilities -
- Wiring fault with the switch on the pedal assembly that turns on the BRAKE (!)(P) warning light. See what happens when you actually apply the parking brake while the engine's running. If the engine stalls when the light comes on, there's something wrong in that circuit
- The PCM is behind that bracket. You may be bumping the PCM to the point that it's affecting the connector. Did you tighten down the bolt that secures the electrical harness connector to the PCM?

Does the truck have a chip, by any chance? You may be disturbing that connection, if applicable. Be VERY careful about that. Chip harness connection issues that happen while the engine is running (or the PCM is powered at all) have been known to render PCMs inop. This is why you always disconnect the batteries, or at least pull both PCM fuses, before messing with the chip connection.

Yes engine stalls. Your probability right about the chip. I'll find out today hopefully. I had everything taped, tied, bolted and otherwise secured down tight. Mabey when pushing the PCM back in, something went wrong.
