My trip computer compas has gone haywire...shows calibrating most of the time, and when it doesn't, the direction is way off. I haven't really thought about it much. When pulling codes for a transmission problem, I also got a B1342 "ECU Fault" code and a U2016 "Signal to Ground" code. Are these related to each other and/or to the overhead display/trip computer? What are the most likely fixes? And a more basic question...what is the ECU? Environmental Control Unit? Engine Control Unit? Emissions COntrol Unit? Something else completely different? I thought the "Engine Control Unit" on these trucks was called a PCM (Power Control Module)...

same as the pcm theres probly about 15 different names for it. it may be in the owners manual im not sure but i know on most vehicles to calibrate it you have to drive in a circle for a min or two, rarley have to do it and never done it on a truck but that may be all you need, if not its probly a problem in the gauge cluster because the pcm ecm ecu... has nothing to do with the odometer and trip meter.

Thanks. I didn't find anything in the owner's manual on calibrating the compass, but I will look some more. As far as the ECU, the confusing thing is that the software for my scan tool (auto-enginuity) refers to the PCM everywhere it's referencing engine and transmission control...
