Edge Evolution Questions

It appears I can only run my Evolution on level 1. If I go to level 2 I get the SES light since i can't keep my foot out of it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif . Never tried level 3. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
When I run the codes it appears to be from overboost AND low fuel injection pressure. Is anyone else seeing or experiencing these conditions?
I sent it back to Edge and they modified it about a year ago. Should I contact them again?
Oh yeah, I'm running a 4" exhaust, a Tymar intake, a wicked wheel for stall and plenty of other non motor goodies.
I could use some advice...

over boost is common. you can get a boost regaltor from www.blackclouddiesel.com . this will fix that and you can shim the fuel pressure regaltor to fix the codes.

I've seen these before but I just figured they defeated the purpose of increased boost. I will give one a try though. What about the shimming you mentioned? Any links or "how to" information available?
[/ QUOTE ]Unless you get some form of overboost eliminator, that code will stay. as far as the 1211 code I assume your getting, there may be nothing you can do about it unless you ditch the EVO and go with some Custom tuning where the requested ICP is brought down. Sometimes doing a AUTO-RX flush will help with ICP too. Then sometimes you just have a weak High Pressure Oil pump and need to replace it to fix the 1211.

Custom tuning? Do you mean a chip?
What is ICP and an AUTO-RX flush?
And replacing the HPOP would cost about?
Thanks!
Ok, so I am now wondering about a chip.
I have always avoided them since I like the EVO tuner features but it is kind of useless if I can't use it right?
I'll need to do some research to determine who makes a good chip. So, should I do a single or multi level chip?
Oh yeah, I only noticed the 1211 (I think) code just before I needed an oil change. Otherwise it was only the over boost. Could be related to the "dirty" oil?
Also, I have 75,000 on my 2003 and it is still pretty solid.
I'll pick up an over boost valve tomorrow.
Thanks again.

If you only suffer the 1211 when oil change time is due, then your ICP is not a problem and you just nned to change the oil. It does this because of increased foaming and possible viscosity being sheared down. This is actually normal. In fact, I just suffered the same thing and just changed my oil and truck runs a heck of a lot more responsive.

The overboost valve should fix the other thing. I recommend you get one from Bob Riley at dieselsite.com or Dennis at ITPdiesel.com

That is the response I was hoping to get about the oil since it makes the most sense. I don't think I have ever purchased anything from Bob Riley before BUT he has answered many of my questions. Time to pay him back I guess. Still wondering about a chip though...
Any downsides?
How are the shift points and EGTs? Do you tow?

I see. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif 1200* - 1225* not really pushing it I guess. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I checked out the link, which did you purchase the custom 4 or 6 set up?
So you kept your original ECM and they modified the other, multiple times, until you were sastified? That soumds like someone I would like to work with. I need to call them and see what my options are.
So, I spoke to Jody today and ordered a PCM. Lets see how it goes from here. I still need to order and install an overboost valve since Bob Riley is out of stock on them until Late July.
