My Brother-in-law just got an Edge Platinum in his 06 CC DRW Amarillo.

I was wondering what negative symptoms he should watch for (like coolant puking) and what remedies you guys have.

BTW, he tows something all the time (he's a dealer rep for horse trailer manufacturer) and the truck is otherwise bone stock.

Tell him to return it! MSD has bought Edge and the new technology is in the pipeline. Several of their dealers have been told to sell off the current inventory in preperation for the latest and greatest, along with a major price increase!

That's not going to happen, he trades trucks in about every 6 months and will probably just let it go when he gets the next one since it will most likely be a 6.4TT.

I don't know where you get your info, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, but I'll tell ya what I know for a fact, yes, MSD bought Superchip's last year. Prices did not go through the roof, and product's got better. MSD has now bought Edge, no price increase's are expected, product's get better all the time. It take's an enormous amount of time and money to do R&D, which all add's up to better product's for all of us. MSD is owned by the Knight group, a few rather well off older gent's who look to invest their money in companies that are gonna go through enormous growth and net them a handsome return on their money. Sound's good to me. Do a little research on em, and see what else they own. Might just suprise you. Gary

Don`t go above level 3 and keep a close eye /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif on the trans. shifting.
I had real problems when using towhaul(towing 13K, bad shift flare
3-4), after 3 1/2 months of a promised fix Edge decided it was not a priorty for them to fix @ this time with only a handful of complaints.
Their loss my gain, I went with Innovative Diesel Xcal 1, but the Plat gauges are pretty cool.

Reminds me of the tv show "Knight Rider". I think I need a new identity. I'd like to be Michael Knight. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok, thanks. I tell him to be careful while towing, what setting should he use?

Any other suggestions?

Level 2-3 towing watch your egt`s,on the trans settings I had 0% defueling and when towing I would set the firm shifting setting to "ON" and when your not towing and you want firmer shifts then change to "Advanced" and select what suits you.
I found select "all shifts" and "firmness changes w/HP" worked for me.

On my 03 I found that the trans learn mode settings did not work as advertised. To have the TCC function (lock in towhaul 3-4-5 gears) and firm shifts would only function with "learn mode off".
With "Periodic" not functioning and using towhaul,by demanding more HP and torque the trans shifted like crap. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

So eventually the Plat.trans controls came out and in went Xcal 1 by Innovative Diesel. The shifting is far more superior, consistant and user friendly than the Platinum and even the Evoloution.
The best part is I don`t have to make changes everytime I tow,I just hook-up and go. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I have trans only, tow & street tunes in my Xcal 1.
With trans only I use the Plat. for on the fly power and use all adjustments "BUT" anything to do with the trans is turned "OFF".
With the Tow & Street tunes ALL Plat. power is set to "0" and use the Plat. for gauges only.
And everything works fine, especially the sct shifting, it is
awesume.
You do have to put the truck stock before you program the sct in and then plug the Edge plat. back in, to do it right.
