What are the signs that I would see if my EGR was bad in my truck? My warranty is coming up and I want to get it fixed. I only have 14,850 miles on it so far.
What year is your truck? The EGR is covered under the 5yr/100k engine warranty. If you are coming off the 5yr part and only have 15k on the truck, you're not using it near enough. You need to get that truck out once a week for at least half an hour at highway speeds to keep everything charged & lubed. If it's an 07 - now that's a different story. What are the signs that I would see if my EGR was bad in my truck? My warranty is coming up and I want to get it fixed. Aye - yup. That's it exactly. With 15k on it you're using it well.:thumbsup:I think all he meant by that was, if the truck was on 07 with only 15k on it, thats understandable, but if the truck is an 03 with only 15k miles on it, then the truck is not being driven nearly enough.
To the original poster, increased coolant consumption and white smoke from the tailpipe are EGR cooler failure symptoms, as well as puffing coming from the coolant degas bottle with the cap off.
