So i’m Sure by now everyone is sick of hearing about EGR deletes but here’s one more. I have a 2008 6.4ltr diesel with a bully dog tuner and and DPF delete completed. I have not done the EGR delete only unplugged the wire harness to the EGR. My question is how much time do i have to run the truck that way before I start damage? Haven’t had time to complete the EGR mechanical delete yet.

Thanks in advance.

The point of all this is to get the government out of your pocket.

EGR on a diesel is not your friend. The system works by introducing spent nasty exhaust back into the intake stream. This reduces and dilutes the oxygen content of the incoming air charge which reduces combustion temperatures. The problem is that the engine doesn't like it. To keep the engine running, the computer has to back off the timing and add a bunch more fuel. So the engine doesn't make as much power and burns more fuel. It also gums up the intake manifold and turbos with soot and carbon. EGR on these engines is terrible for the engine. Disabling it is a good thing and we highly recommend it.

So, how long can you run it like this? Proll'y only 300,000 miles or so.
