I have a 04 6.0 I'm on my third egr in 3k miles no check eging lights evan if I run without it plugged in just no powere smokes bad what couses them to go bad?

The 04 has a throttle plate it's the only year that has it. It's inside the elbow i had nothing but problems with mine power loss and black smoke it's like big choke cut off air flow to the engine. It work with the EGR valve you can see it in this link

On my old 04, before totalling it, I took the elbow off and removed the plate. Took all of 5 minutes and can solve some issues. If you do a search I think you will find a lot of people removing that "throttle plate". Good Luck.

Remove the plate or what i did was install the CFM+ intake it's not much of a performance gain but you will get less lag and better throttle response
