Hey fellas, I have been reading the innercooler posts lately, as here in no-air Colorado, pulling my 5ver and boat, although only a combined rating of about 6,000 pounds, with a Woldman chip, will send my egt's into the 1250 range PDQ. I have a four inch catback, open intake and 3" DP already on the truck, but was wondering for those with a CAC, how effective these are on our trucks at keeping egt's in check. Its a 97 with an e40d with 4.10's and stock tires, was just wanting good info on whether paying for and installing an innercooler is worth the time and price for hauling. And maybe also any other suggestions on getting my egt's down besides the go pedal, wcich I only need to press about a quarter throttle on tow setting to get these numbers, or downshifting, which I do regularly. Thanks for the help and info guys. You guys sure know alot more than me about this sort of modification stuff. Thanks again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I dont have any numbers yet as I am waiting for my pipes to come in for install....but you can do one at a reasonable cost if you search...I'll be installing an intercooler off of a 2001 F-350. I will in to it $450 total for parts, and ill be doing it myself...so it can be done at a reasonable cost...

Casey, I have seen some inexpensive ways to do the install and get the parts, but am just curious if it lowers the egt's enough to make it worth while. I realize that everyones driving habits are different, but I am curious what peoples numbers are so I could decide whether it is worth it or not. Thanx for the reply, and look forward to others with numbers maybe. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Uncool, I have lost the kitty inside anyway, that got a smile from the local muffler shop when they did the 4 inch exhaust and he rattle a welding rod inside it for me!!! When I lost it, I could feel a big jump in turbo response just from that. That was before TWildman's chip even. Thanks for the responses, please keep 'em coming, wspecially you in the know guys with some before and after CAC numbers. Just don't want to put in all the work and be disappointed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I tow a 28' 8,500 lb 5er with 3.55 gears. It used to get to 1350 pulling long hills and I installed the .84 housing and a 7.3 i/c with the GTS install kit. After that it doesn't go over 1150... foot to the floor as long as you want... just keep it over 2000 rpm. Bob.

Tom, sounds good to me. It would be nice as others mentioned, to make the power I have available, instead of just using it when running unloaded. Who is this installer, and about how much does it run to have someone do the work for me. It does not seem too complicated, just that the truck is my only vehicle right now, and if I get into trouble, that could be bad. Thanks for the number guys and the info. It is all soaked up and appreciated. Colin
