im looking at pyrometers for my 2000 and was wondering if any1 made a gauge that could read both banks or where everyone thinks the best place to put a single probe?

Prefered spot is the drivers side exhaust manifold. Firing order ends with 6 and 8 so that's the hottest spot. Last one I installed in a PSD was just in front of the flange

have you ever heard of anyone having a probe break off and go thru the turbo? my truck isnt a monster hotrodded truck but just a lil bit of stuff, would a 1600degree gauge work for that. im thinking 1200-1300 will be the high side. thats what we always shot for with our alcohol motors

A stock truck can see 1250.
The only gauge I know of that could display both banks would be the Edge Insight digital display. It reads some data off the OBDII port and you can add EGT gauges to it. It is set up so you can daiychain multiple things into the back of it. You may want to check with Edge to be sure it can dsplay 2 EGT's but I wouldn't see why not. It is a pretty slick unit, I like it for everything but the boost which reads from the map sensor. With the TS chip the map sensor readout was modified and didn't show actual. So I got a mechanical gauge for that. With the current Banks chip it reads very close. Map sensor will only show 22psi max.
Never had a probe break, they are pretty robust.

You could use a plx dm-100 setup to see both banks. I run dual egt and dual AFR on my mustang on one gauge. (and a ton of other crap on my other gauges). I put one in my rig to view boost and egt. It records the peak values and can line graph too.
