I finally put gauges on my truck and I just wanted to find out how high I can run my egt's up to without burning something up.

International engineers say you can run all day at 1,200º pre-turbo EGT, and 1,250º is the red line. If you see 1,250º, then back out of the go pedal a hair to maintain EGT below 1,250º.
If you got bad advice and installed the thermocouple (sender) in the downpipe instead of before the turbo, then move it to pre-turbo. Nobody knows what is the red line for a post-turbo pyrometer, but from personal experience I know it's not more than 850.

Also I have a edge programmer that I run in tow mode, what kind of boost should I be making?

At wide open throttle dragging a trailer up a mountain you should see over 20. 25 is the red line, so if your combo of programmer, intake and exhaust allows more than 25, then don't go there - back out of the go pedal before you hit 25.
High EGT and high boost run together, so when you're climbing at 1,200º EGT you'll probably also be showing over 20 PSI boost.
About the only time I have to pay attention to my EGT and boost is when mountain climbing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
