Problem found
This is an OLD post that I started but I thought I report my conclusion. I finally pulled the door multi-switch out and started 'hot-wiring' posts till I figured out what electrical connector (on the switch) made the windows go up and down. I isolated the drivers side window for 'up' and 'down' and had no problem getting it to go down but I had to bypass the switch to get it back up. So...I 'hot-wired' the window up...broke off the post that controls the window down (so I don't accidentally put it down) and now I need to order a new multi-switch...clearly the switch was bad.
