We are staying in Yellowstone and the truck just died this morning, no warning, just died. I had one of the new updated cps in the glove box and swapped it out and still nothing.
It was towed to the Fishing Bridge Service station, and they pulled 3 codes p0603, p1293, p1294 and they also checked the relays and fuses. The couldnt figure it out so it had to be towed to a shop in West Yellowstone($500 tow) they wont be able to look at it till morning, just wondering if anyone knows where to start lookin for a problem.

Truck was serviced before we left illinois fuel filter, brakes, oil change, trans flush, rear diff service, tc lockup switch.

thanks

Any other mods then whats in the sig? Its not uncommon to have two Cps's bad... but I have never had one go. Check all the wire harness's, its an electrical issue I bet but

The P1293 and P1294 codes indicate a open in the high side wiring from the IDM, Injector Driver Module, to the injectors. Seeing it set the codes for both banks I doubt it is a wiring issue but check the wiring over the drivers side valve cover for chaffing or broken wires. My guess you lost the IDM.

You've got problems in the IDM-to-injector circuits. That'll kill an engine dead RIGHT NOW.

From the service manual:

"DTCs P1294 and P1293 indicate an open circuit exists on the high side circuit between the IDM and the injectors."

Might be the Under Valve Cover Harnesses (both to throw those two codes), or it might be the IDM, or could be just about anywhere in between.

It's gonna take some multimeter work to check where to look.

I'd start at the VC connectors. Pull them off and check the resistance between the center pin on the VC and each of the two pins immediately to the front and back of there) If you get an open circuit, then pull the VC off and check the UVC harnesses.

If you get 5 ohms or less on the above test, then start looking toward the IDM.

Another quick check is where the Engine harness goes across the driver's side valve cover. If there's any chafing there, the first wires to go are the injector circuits.

It's possible that your IDM is fried, too. If that's what it is, it would be a simple, although expensive fix.

Check the Help Network HERE for someone in the area who may be able to help you out.

Good luck.

It sucks to have a vacation trip ruined like that. I've been towed and elbow deep in a motor home swapping parts before, so I can understand how you feel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif

On edit: Note to self -- learn to type faster, or not say so much. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Three guys got in ahead of me (all with good info). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

thanks for the info, we are waiting for them to finish repairing it, hopefully they will be done today.

The shop that has the truck has a board on the wall that says DIESELS DEAD with a count from each brand, they had Ford 7, Dodge 1, Chev 1. I think its kinda biased, he drives a cummins dodge, and probably 9 out of 10 trucks I see around here are Ford.

Hopefully we will be on the road in the next few hrs, to head to SLC, UT.
