On my 1999 F250 there's this weird slot on the dash, just about in front of my right knee. Its an open space with no cover.

What the heck is this for? I haven't really found a good use for it. If I put my sunglasses in it, they get scratched and anything else slides out if I step on it at all.

Any ideas?.... maybe I can find a CB that will fit, or, better yet a CD player.... I dunno..

Speaking of CD players, my truck has the old cassette player. I'm thinking of upgrading to a CD player. Do you folks typically replace the whole unit with an integrated CD player, or add on the player that holds 6 - 8 cds?

Thanks

If you are talking about the cubby hole, I mounted my brake control in there to keep it out of the way. It also holds my I-pass, remote for my stereo, parking deck pass and sometimes my wallet, I find it very handy to have. The easiest thing to do is replace the whole radio with a factory Ford CD player if you can find one, if not just get an aftermarket unit, and the correct harnesses.

I put one of those little neoprene mats that you see all over the place. The ones that keep your cell phone from sliding around on the dash. No more sliding out. I keep my (((XM))) remote and my wallet in there now.

If you decide to go with a Ford 6 disc in dash unit, there a few critical things to look out for when buying used/E-bay. PM me if you go this route.

Don't ask how I know.
