Hey guys. Driving my wife's EX yesterday. Going ~50 MPH and got on the go pedal. It acted like it was "mis-firing" and I could hear what sounded like a loud "puffing noise" from the engine. Any one experience this before? Guesses on what it could be? Thanks in advance.

Did the puffing happen when you let off the throttle? Or while throttling?

While I was trying to accelerate. Didn't pay attention to the gauges. Too busy listening.

Sounds like a air leak sonewhere. But an air or vac leak would be heard at start up.

If it only happens on acceleration it may be your Air intake sensor acting froggy.

If you get little puffs of black smoke from the tail pipe when it happens, it is probably your air filter.

I finally got around to looking at this again. The problem started when I changed the air filter. I removed it again and reinstalled to make sure it was installed correctly and tightened everything. It still does it. Its starts the puffing noise and almost like a misfire (in a non diesel vehicle) when I'm at 50 mph and get on the gas. Stops when I let off pedal. Don't notice any smoke and no changes in the gauges and does not do anything weird at idle. Need to trouble shoot and not wanting to take to dealer unless absolutely necessary. Taking it on a trip in a week and need to get solved. Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks!
