I lost the rear engine lifter bracket during the rebuild. Went to the stealership and they said that they werent available anymore. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Also, shouldnt there only be two of them? one above cylinder #2 and one above Cyl. # 7? Or should I have 4?

Mine has three. Two in front and one in back. The one in back is at the #7 cylinder and has the fitting for the return lines on it

Check this pic for the factory locations.......2 pax side and one drivers side rear, I always use an extra bolt for a 4th chain on the front of drivers head where accessories came off.

I'd try an International dealer. They might have them.

IH never carried them as they "were a Ford part"... They claimed that ford installed them...? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Ford doesnt make them anymore. Time to get the forge & plasma cutter out.

No junkyards near you? I would imagine if you looked for Ford trucks or vans, you'd find one with a 7.3 or a 460. On my truck, the bracket at the #7 cylinder has the three way tee for the return lines. You don't want some ugly brackets on your engine, do you?

No, but I can fab stuff well. Plan was to cut some 1/4" steel with the plasma cutter and grind the edges smooth, then 7/16" holes for the mounting bolts. for the large hole I was probably going to use a 1 1/8" pipe notcher to borea hole for the chain. Id then heat it in the thingy...hell, whats it called...propane furnace thingy... anyways, and slowly bend the edge around a 1/2"-3/4" piece of pipe until at the right angle. Id then cool it down with some oil to give strength to the steel (ancient japanese meathod, works).
