Hello,

About 4 or 5 months ago I stopped driving my 2005 6.0 PSD except for once a week, and I would only drive about 3 or 4 miles when I did drive.

A couple of weeks ago it got below freezing outside and the truck wouldn't start. The battery light was illuminated and I figured not driving was causing the batteries to never get charged. So I put a slow trickle charger on both batteries for a few days and now it starts perfectly again.

The issue now is that the check engine light stays on for a few seconds after the truck is started. Then it disappears and no lights are illuminated until the next time the truck is started, when it repeats this behavior.

The truck seems to be running perfectly other than the light.

The truck has 47k miles and has never had any memorable problems up until now.

My question is: do you think the check engine light is illuminated now because of the previous issue, or is something else possibly wrong? Would it be safe to disconnect the battery cables for a while until the light resets?

I don't have any access to anything to check the engine codes and finances are tight so I don't want to spend any money on this if it's unnecessary.

By the way, I'm going to start driving it more often once I get this cleared up ... I realize it's not necessarily good for the truck to be just sitting around doing nothing.

Thanks!

Bosco
