scanner software a good way to do that. Which ones are good?
The engine will crankup but runs real rough. I was thinking of trying
some of the software out there for a laptop to be able to cheak the
sensors and other things out.
Do those software packages really work?

I would like to find this problem.
Its a 1996 F350 PowerStroke 4x4. 7.3 TurboCharged Heavyduty.

What do you mean by CEL?
The engine light isn't on anylonger. It came one when it first
did this leaving my driveway.
Is there a diagram where all the sensors are located?
Thanks for your reply.
Anything will help at this point. Im sure I can fix it if I can
find the bad part.

Have you ever used some of the laptop computer software to find
things like this?

Check Engine Light

did this leaving my driveway.

So the light is off and the engine is running rough.?

Been around 10,000 miles since changed oil.

Owners manual says every 5000, towing=3000

The fuel filter was
changed 6 months ago.

every 15K miles

I would change both and the air filter before doing anything else.

Would older oil make the engine run that rough? I haven't heard of that before. Hmmmmm
I will try anything that's for sure.

the PSD injector system and its theory of operation does NOT allow for foam or air bubbles in the oil, and DEPENDING ON A LOT OF VARIABLES, the anti foaming agents in the oil can start breaking down and wearing out around 6000 miles. changing your oil should be the first and easiest task to accomplish in trying to eliminate your rough running problem. your problem may be elsewhere, but as you need an oil change anyway, and old oil CAN cause issues...start there..
