i know it is a diesel but it seems like i am developing a tap/knock on the drivers side of the engine, the passenger side isnt as loud, any ideas?

The local stealership couldn't find a problem with mine for the same issue. I add a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer every oil change and it went away.

2009 250 FX-4 longbed with 7200 miles, sounds like I am developing the same thing, only hear it at lower speeds and sounds like it is coming form drivers side by the front wheel, thought it may be an exhaust leak, has that type of sound.
