Getting ready to switch to Evans and wasn't sure how much to buy?

If I remember correctly it takes 7-8 gal. I would recommend installing a coolant filter and the radiator hose that goes around the belt at the same time if you haven't done so already. Jeff

I've already got the filter and for what I'm gonna pay for the coolant you can bet I'll change the hose at the same time. Thanks.

I've also seen that using Evans means that it is possible to run a non-pressurized coolant system. How is this done and are there any side effects that are more negative than the pressurized system?

I've run a "0" pressure system for 30,000 miles with no problems. I drilled a 1/16" hole in the cap. Jeff

Bob Riley introduced Evans to the PSD scene here on TDS and you can read more about this coolant HERE. I would call and see what he has to say and I would think that 8 gals would be what you should get.

I installed Evans in my truck several years ago. I used slightly less than 7 gallons. I bought 8 and still have one left. With zero pressure, you want to keep the coolant level on the low side because it expands more than when under pressure.

For what it's worth - I flushed my system with 15 gallons of distilled water before installing the Evans. I got quite a bit of grit out. I did not install a filter and my Evans looks as clean as the day it was installed 37,000 miles ago.

Evans is great stuff IMO. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
