Hey guys, I purchased my 07 last month and really enjoying it. I came from a E99 7.3 6spd straight pipe that I DD for the last 6 years.

One of the things I want to do is straight pipe again however the auto 6.0 is much louder than a lugging 7.3 when going through the neighborhood. I live in a very nice community that we really enjoy but I bet the HOA will have a big problem with this new truck leaving at 5am every day sounding like a turbine engine.

The idea is to install the turbo back system but leave the section with the cat and muffler along side the straight pipe, just as it drops below the truck install a 12v 4" diverter valve that when powered it will direct the exhaust flow and force it through the stock cat and muffler for when i need to creep out of the place under 15 mph. I want to "Y" the cat/muffler side back into the other pipe so it still exits the same spot, keeping it looking as factory as possible.

I have looked under and it might be tricky fitting it all under the truck but my main concern is tuning. I will have custom tunes made for my DD on the free flow system, but for the times I need to be quiet will that damage anything by restricting the flow for under 15mph? Anyone try this before? It would be simpler to install a dump valve before the cat and call it good but I don't want exhaust and smoke exiting under the cab (and definitely no stacks!)
Oh and the pic is just a drawing, I know that's not how a diverter valve operates.

I doubt there'll be enough room.
Just do a 4" exhaust with a decent muffler, or say phuck the HOA and do a straight pipe.
The exhaust won't make enough difference to affect the tuning.

Just straight pipe it all the way back. You'll get more of a gas motor sound. Nice and deep and it's not very loud, just thick sounding. You'll hear a little more turbine but it isnt too loud with a straight pipe either. After market air filters and exhaust tips are what make the 6.0's turbine so loud. If you just run straight pipe with a stock air intake it'll be fine. Like i said earlier, the truck will just sound beefier, and not too loud either.
