I have an exhaust leak on the passenger side manifold, where the pipe attaches to the manifold. Was a donut type gasket used around the manifold, or is the pipe just supposed to be pulled tight. The exhaust pipe is flared on the end and looks as if a donut could be used. Is there something I could use to stop the leak;the manifold studs are so rusty that I'm afraid I'll snap them trying to get the bolts off. Thanks

No gasket or donut on the exhaust Y pipe to manifold joint.

Yes, without loosening the pipe not much can be done to place any muffler cement for a temporary fix.

Use lots of PB Blaster or similar.......might be wise to seek out a good muffler shop and have them replace the studs, request the use of antisieze on the manitold/stud threads and nuts this time....bring your own.

Use penatrating oil on it several times before you try to loosen it. After running it till it warms up spray it and kinda cool it down this way. Let it cool over night and repeat warming it up and spraying on penetrant and letting it cool overnight. This may be enough to allow some creep of oil into the rusted threads. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif
