I think you are stuck with the sound...it wouldnt matter if you had a 10" stove pipe off of a Peterbilt...you could kill it off by adding a performance muffler. I think that the ~5.5' of straight section is what causes it...it builds a harmonic vibration in the exhaust frequency itself, and leaves the pipe as a chopped up reverberation....If you put a straight through type hypermax muffler(the kind that looks like it has chain link fence inside) in the middle of that long straight section, I think that it would disrupt that exhaust reverberation enough to smooth the sound out...Personally, I dont mind the cackle...I still get cackle with my exhaust system listed in my signature.
