Gettin ready to finish installing my exhaust system... but don't know what to do about my exhaust stacks being open for the rain to go in. The stacks are strait up but are cut at an angle. Any suggestions with dealing with rain water that will get inside there?? What do the semi's do? I was thinking about drilling a small hole either in the flex piping under the stacks, or putting one in the flowmaster muffler. Just afraid of it turning into a rust hole if i do that, and the ehxaust blowing out of the hole.

Any thoughts??

Semi's with open stacks blow soot all over the top of the cab and trailer. I suggest to another from your state to drill a small drain hole, but was told it would not pass inspection. I wouldn't worry about rust, think about it, the ends of the pipe don't rust off. If you decide to drill, I'd start with a 1/8" bit and see if it doesn't plug. Maybe a sheet metal screw in the hole would pass inspection.

I've thought about putting a radiator style petcock in there for a drain, that way, it is technically sealed, but you can open it to let any water out.
The cheap solution is to use a couple coffee cans over the top like the farmers do it.

Not to worried about the inspection... that part is taken care of. Wow, $100 for one of those flaps, thats crazy. i spent less on each stack! I have 4.25 stacks anyways so i'm SOL on that topic. I'll prolly just drill some holes!! Thanks for the info guys...

after running OTR for over 20 years mostly w/stacks never did wonder if there was water in the stacks as they ALL had a low spot far lower than the turbo so unless it was to be parked for several months then put a coffee can over the tops otherwise the water will get blown out quickly.
