Finally, my excurision is on the way. It is a 2001 with the 7.3 and, 2 wd.

Who makes a good exhuast for this vehicle? Is the DP as difficult to remove and install as on the '97 F series (my DP took the better part the day to R&R).

Welcome any and all comments -

Congrats on the biggest and best SUV ever!!!

On the exhaust...I installed a 4" turbo back kit from MBRP that I bought from a sponsor on this site...It went on good and the downpipe is a piece of cake...DON'T remove the turbo band clamp first. Leave it hooked to help hold it steady while cutting...The last exaust hanger was about 6" to short so I had to weld an extension on it. I have a 7" lift on the truck so maybe that interfeard somehow /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif I don't have any "newer" photos in my sig of it but I'll try and get some fresh ones posted.

I have installed two other brands and I really didn't like them very much...They seamed to be "cheap" with u-bolt style hangers instead of the "factory style welded ones and "one size fits all" systems so you have to cut a straight section if your system shorter if your truck isn't a long bed crew cab /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif

Funny you should ask, I just finished putting a Magnaflow system on the X. I have a 2001 4x4 and it went on fairly well. I had a harder time getting the old system off since you need to save the rubber exhaust hangers for the new system. The down pipe was not that hard, other then trying to reach the back of the engine to hook it up. Get the down pipe lined up and get the clamp in place on the top and hold it down into place. This will keep everything lined up. Then pull the bottom part of the clamp back up and hook it back into the other side. Only took me about 15 minutes to get it all hooked up by myself. Most of that time was spent trying to get a good hold on the downpipe to line it up. I got my system from Dennis at ITP diesel.

62maxwedge,

We made a special buy from Magnaflow for a large quantity of their Premium 436 stainless, lifetime warranty systems for 7.3 Excursions. We have a few left, priced about the same as a 409 system.

Drop us an e-mail, PM, or call for pricing. JS.
