F350 ignorance

Ok, I'm here at the request of my good buddy. I'm a 6.9 guy. But he has a 01 F350 SRW with 7.3, Banks stinger, and a bunch more trimmings. What he want's to know is this.

It is a Ford Power stroke diesel, but who really made the motor? He found some International things on it and is now mighty confused. I told him to log on here and ask you guys. He said, "You already spend so much time there, you ask them."

So, if you don't mind my intrusion, I'm askin'. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Thanks for the info and the web link. Lots of good info. Both my truck (84 F250 W/ 6.9) and his truck (01 F350 w/7.3) were made in Canada. Did Ford have the motors shipped to Canada for assembly? How much assembly is Ford still doing in Canada? (Not that I'm complaining.)

if you look at the VIN of your truck, you'll see the first character is a "1", when means "made in the USA". 3 means made in Mexico. 2 means made in Canada. But I'll bet you won't find a SuperDuty with a VIN beginning with a 2.

You wont believe this, well maybe you will, my 84 is 2FTHF26.....

The 11th vin number is a "C".

My buddy is going to get me his vin # to is 2001 Superduty as soon as he gets home.

So what does all this mean?

It means that 21 years ago Ford was building heavy-duty diesel pickups in the Ontario Truck Plant (OTP) in Oakville, Ontario.

Sure enough. His VIN starts with a 1F. He thinks it went from Kentucky to Canada, then back to Washington where he bought it.

Case closed. Thanks a bunch ya all!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
