I just bought another powerstroke. Its a 2001 F450 Crew cab flat bed and after all the mods I put on my F250 this thing is painful to drive. My question is will the exhaust systems from the same year 250 and 350's work with the 450 and 550's? I will also be adding a hotter T stat, DP tuner chip along with a diy tymar intake system maybe a ccv mod later. That should wake her up a little bit.

The exhaust systems are different in the back where they go up and over the axle on 250/350 vs 450/550.

Its much easier and looks much nicer to just get the correct system.

And since you said its a flatbed, there should be room for the exhaust to "exit" like the factory..(thats how most kits come)
The bed on my 450 doesnt have room for this, I had someone cut that part and make it exit at the rear corner.....

I compared them side by side today and I didnt see anything different about them. You can save 150 bucks by going with the 250/350 but is it going to be too much work to justify the savings?

Then you didn't look very close.

A "short"chassis cab F-450 has a cab-to-axle (CA) measurement of 60 inches. A longbed pickup had a CA about 4" shorter. The wheelbase is also about 4" different to include that difference in the CA. Plus most F-450s have a fuel tank behind the rear axle, while the pickup has a spare tire. That fuel tank is in the way of a pickup tail pipe.

As they said, the pickup exhaust system won't fit on an F-450 chassis cab. Believe it.

Ohh I believe it but at sight its hard to see 4" when looking at exhaust. On a work truck I think I will just stick with a muffler delete pipe and be done with it. I have heard that the 3 1/2 makes more torque than the 4 anyway so thanks for the info. Maybe I will look closer next time.

Im telling you from "hands on" experience.......

The exhaust I had on my 550 was a 250/350 exhaust......

I dont remember exactly what the problem was...but it had to do with going up and over the rear axle/diff.

We had to cut some out, change some of the factory exhaust hangers, weld a piece in.....and I was never happy with how it looked.

Thats why I was saying to go ahead and get the right kit.

I sent you a PM also

No, the F250/350 kits will not work. We do have a system for your F450 though. I will PM you the info on them.

Di, if Jody's F-450 began life as a chassis cab, then you need the special exhaust system for a chassis cab truck. But if he has a 2008-up F-450 pickup, then all bets are off. Maybe Nate can explain, but I suspect the F-450 factory-assembled pickup uses the same exhaust system as the F-350 DRW pickup.

What rear gears are you 2 (gamud and Di/Jody) turnin in those 450's?

I had 4:88's in my 550 and it was too much.

My friend has an 08 450 with 4:88 and doesnt like it.

My 03 450 has 4:56 and it is soo much nicer (for me)

I think the 4:30 ish or whatever is available now would be nice to try.

I dont know but there way too high I know that. I do about 65 mph turning 2600-2800 rpms which is killing me. My F250 Has the 6 speed and 35's and its more like 2000 at 65-70mph. Hey Diane I will be giving Jody a call real soon for a chip for this beast. Are yall back in the office this week?

I just wanted to ask him on which tunes he would recomend for my 450 before I purchased a chip. Only mods I have so far is the DIY tymar and boost fooler. I have 4" turbo back exhaust w/ strait pipe on the way, a 203* T-stat and a ccv mod waiting install and maybe a ww in the future. I dont realy tow anything but I have about 4k lbs of metal and equipment at all times. What would yall recomend?
