If you have Advance auto chain stores in your area they just got a kit in (#34)that both wrenches fit nicely.
The kit from autozone will fit the nut ok but not hold the pulley. both are free loan-a-tools. no need to buy.
Are you turning the correct direction? If you have the "right hand thread" sticker on your shroud you will be turning the nut counter clockwise if you are standing in front of the car facing the engine.
I'm in the middle of this right now on the 94 as well-- the autozone clutch wrench (not the pulley holder) is worthless. It actually widens as you put a load on it and slips on the nut. I'm now trying to open up an old 1 3/4 box wrench on the grinder to approx. 1.95" and trying again.
The thread direction threw me for a loop also. The shroud says right hand thread and the book says left.....nice. What is it; right or left?
I hate these kinds of projects where the simplest of tasks go south.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
You got to whack the wrench with a BFH a few times to break it loose, then it will spin off with your finger. This is assuming you still have the belt on.
Did that, no go. Went to local stealership, hit with air chisel NO CHARGE. --- I'm buying a lotto ticket. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
