I think my fan clutch is staying on all the time. When i hit 2000rpm and higher it sounds like a jet taking off no matter how long Ive been driving or outside temp. Is this fixable? Or do I have to by new if so wheres the best place to get one and how hard are they to replace? Its a 96' auto tranny all stock except for DIY intake.
Thanks in advance

I guess it could have froze up. Kinda unusual in my experience. Part numbers below.

Schwitzer and Borg-Warner Fan Clutchs. Part number 168395.

Click here and search for the part number.

The Hayden units aren't worth the trouble.

Mine was locked more than it should be, so got the new Hayden, which by coincedence had the Ford OEM part number scribed right into it as Hayden supplied the original part to Ford. Well to make a long and rather disgusting story somewhat short, I'll just condense and say I installed 3 Hayden fans and they flat DO NOT work. Might as well just run direct drive fan, because these will never shut off. Don't care if it's 10 below zero, been diving 500 miles on the interstate, it doesn't matter, they flat do NOT work so don't waste your money. I then got a new Ford unit and it did not work either, went and got another Ford, but never installed it because I drained the radiator like 12 times swapping back and forth these, and the originl works 95% ok, so to sum it up, good luck, you are goin to need it to get a fan clutch that works.

I installed a OEM fan clutch a month ago and it works great! Granted mine is an 03 but they all operate similarly.

So it sounds like maybe I should get a fan off a junk truck. What about putting a electric fan on anyone done that?

The electric setups won't keep up. There are a number of threads on that. Cheers!

F5TA8A616KB Schwitzer Duro Drive. Only fan clutch I've ever seen from the factory. I suppose at some point Hayden may have produced some for Ford or IH. Like to see a pic of that fan clutch.

All I can say is "Your LUCKY". I haven't heard my fan run for YEARS. I haven't done the clutch test but I'm sure mine is toast. My local IH dealer said he could get me the best price on a new clutch. Just not sure what brand I want to get but it won;t be a Hayden!
