If nothing else PBS may show the Washington DC fireworks on TV /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

I would love to cruise down and watch them. But it's just a pain leaving once they are over, if you're in a good viewing location. Ashburn Fireworks are going to have to do tomorrow.

I am sorry to hear that they aren't having fireworks in your area. Wife and I have gone to great local fireworks display's this past Fri, Sat, Sun & Tues. She couldn't find any for Monday /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Here in California when the 4th of July rolls around conditions are always so dry that we have already had at least one major fire but that never stops anybody...I have never heard of a professional fireworks show starting a fire anywhere locally although a rocket went into a crowd and blew a girl's leg off in a nearby city some years ago. When working for the fire department I observed the preparation for a show and the fire department and the show operator were very meticulous and strict about safety at least here.

Fortunately for me, my grandparents live on a hill nearby a couple hundred yards away, where I can sit on the deck and watch, and when it is over, go back inside, or walk home which takes about 5 minutes.

Here in the Phoenix area there are plenty of places to drive to where you can see public displays and it is usually not more then a 15 minute car ride. I counted 17 places in the Phoenix Metro area, and you can bet that each with probably have a turnout in the tens of thousands.
Fireworks cannot be legally shot off by people unless you have a permit and they can't be bought either.
Probably has something to do with living in a desert. Not having had any rain for the last three months doesn't help either.

We are having the opposite problem in our area, Too much rain cancelling fireworks! The city of Sugarland Tx has cancelled it's fireworks display because parts of Oyster Creek park are Flooded. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Same here, all of the parking areas are flooded or pure mud.

I use to get fireworks for my Bday every year, Its way to dry around here to light anything off. I hope I don't have to many stupid people out here in the boondocks lighting anything off, they will just let it burn.
