I have a 2008 F350 dually that has been sitting for close to 3 years. It has under 19,000 miles on it.
What if any new flashs and warranty recall work has been ordered for this model?
Thanks for any info.

I’m just guessing but if you have own the truck since new and haven’t done any recalls. Some of the recalls might be the Venturi Tee, Fuel tank bracket, Tires…etc

I know of many PCM flashes, but right now I don’t know if the newest one would be better then the one you have, tough call?? It is still a forum debate, but Ford says it’s mandatory to not void your warranty.

Not sure but you should be able to give the Vin number to a Ford dealer and they can tell you?

Or Cory from Ford Customer Service is a member of this forum and he might be able to help you out.

Whatever you do *do not* just start the truck if it's really been sitting that long. Ford has bulletins for dealers about problems related to trucks sitting on a dealers lot without being run for just even a year. I forget the exact details, perhaps someone else remembers them, but I recall something about some components sticking and causing significant engine damage in short order.

Thank you for the recommendation MPD56.

Juzplanekrazy, if you do decide that you would like assistance when you set up the appointment with the dealer, please feel free to private message me. The details I would need are your VIN, approximate mileage, and dealer name.

If you have not bought it...don't.

I fully expect that you will have rocker arm failures and perhaps more.

If you own it..then be prepared. Sticky valves.

You can check if your Ford vehicle has any open recalls by going to www.flmowner.com/Service and entering the Vehicle Identification Number.

FSA 08C04

AFFECTED VEHICLESCertain 2008 model year F-250 and F-350, 4X4, Single Rear Wheel, 10,000 lbs and under GrossVehicle Weight (GVW), 156" wheel base vehicles equipped with a two-piece drive shaft and built from Job 1 through March 28, 2008. Affected vehicles are identified in OASIS.

REASON FOR THIS COMPLIANCE RECALLThe affected vehicles may not conform to frontal barrier impact requirements specified by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 301, which establishes fuel system integrity requirements in various barrier impacts for vehicles 10,000 lbs and under GVW. During a frontal rigid barrier impact, the fuel tank in the affected vehicles may move forward which could damage the fuel delivery module or fuel lines due to contact with a vehicle cross member. If this occurs, fuel leakage may result. Fuel in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.

Thanks Ford Doctor: (Also for some reason I can't get your link to work?)

Since I’m slower at typing, I’ll post my thoughts anyway.

I received the recall notice back in early 08, The bracket was install on my truck in front of the fuel tank to supposedly stop the tank from moving forward in case of a collision. Since your truck is an 09 and LB, I can only assume that your truck might have a larger fuel tank (38 gals US) because of the LB and I had the recall done before your truck was built, so I’m thinking with your truck, it shouldn’t be an issue! I’m not sure if any of the 2009s owners received the recall notice, because it was dealt with at the factory.

If you look at the front of your fuel tank and there is not a bracket mounted to the frame and around the front of the fuel tank, on the 08s like mine, there should be and on the 09s, I can only assume there should be?

You are right, the recall does not effect my truck. I was hopeing there was something in it that would help my problem. When I drive on a rough road with about 1000lbs in the back or trailer tounge weight, my truck has a loud metel to metel clanging sound that the dealer can't find. It's so loud, that I thought my side steps were falling off. I also have looked under the truck and found nothing loose. With no weight, it is quiet!
Thanks

I’m not sure if your hearing the same noise, but I have a clunk noise coming from just under the driver’s floor every so often since I owned my truck, my dealer said that it was a know problem and Ford was working on a solution. Two years later after calling Ford Canada, my dealer checked the suspension and found no clunk and wrote on the work order found no clunk. The reason I don’t bring my truck to them anymore is the work order I have from 2008 says the did hear a clunk?

Cory: Thanks for the Link. It recognises my truck, but a note below states that it is for recalls in the United States, therefore “Currently, there are no listed recalls for your vehicle.” I’m assuming that recalls are only for safety and emissions concerns in which the country the vehicle is sold in.

Question?
If I lived in the USA, would the site show me just the recalls I didn’t have done or would it show all the recalls for my truck no matter if I had them done to my truck or not?

As you know some of my history, I have got TSB or CSP work done to my truck at a Great Michigan Ford Dealer north of Detroit, which leads me to believe that Ford Canada, Ford USA and all Ford Dealers must have access and bring up work done to my truck?

Thanks again Cory: Although I know that there is only so much you can do for members and what you can post on a public forum, You’re a fine example of Customer Service and beyond and want you to know that I and other members appreciate it.

Kerinator, for a frustrating concern like this, I recommend calling the Ford of Canada Customer Relationship Center (1-800-565-3673) for assistance. They could look into this for your and see if there’s any way to lend a hand.

MPD56, that means a lot to me. I really appreciate it. The web site should pull up open recalls for your VIN. If you would like me to double check, please send it to me in a private message. However, for any further assistance I recommend calling the Ford of Canada Customer Relationship Center (mentioned above).

Cory, I did check out the Ford recall link you provided. I don't have any for my truck, which is great. And I looked back through my old posts and I guess I did take mine back to Ford dealer right after I got it for what I guess guys are calling "Limp Mode"??. I think they did some kind of a Flash on it too at the time. Which was back in 08'.

As far as it sitting, then starting it up, And the "DON'T" do it part. Well thats nuts. How can that even be justified by any manufacture?
I'll worry about that when the time comes. I'm driving it now, and will keep doing so.
Thanks Cory and others for any help.

I’ve called that number more then I care too. They just send me back to the local dealer that pulls the wool over their eyes. Once a month I’m usually in Michigan and I’m fine with that. At the end of the month I’ll be in Dearborn, so do you answer the phone for Road Side Assistance? LOL Have a great weekend.

Regards, MPD56

If you already started it and it seems to be running ok, it may well be ok. If it did have the sticking valve issue or whatever it was from sitting for years with no oil circulation I expect it would be apparent pretty quickly.
