Hi

I have been reading some on bio. I ordered your book and have been poking around on several sites.
Is there a totally automated system to make bio?... out of waste oil?

I'm working on a computer controlled system, but it's going to take me some time to work it all out, what with working 50+hours a week.

The intent is to have an automated system in which you put in WVO, your reactants and push a button. Computers sense the pH level, mix reactants accordingly and filtered and polished bioD comes out the other end.

It can be done, just a matter of time and money.

I'm trying to keep the cost below 1000 dollars. However solenoid controlled valves are very expensive new. Ebay and mechanical parts classifieds have been a big help.

It also helped out that I have some very good friends who have access to used equipment, ABB controllers and PLCs to control the valves.

If you are building a processor, no need to buy new when many good used components can be had for a fraction of the price.

I'd say the average guy is looking at about $2k, unless he/she is a very good scrounge. Can be done, but ...

I'm also working on a system once I get the tanks and hardware together. I'm using surplus AMX control equipment. The controller has relay outputs, sensor inputs (contact closure and temp among others) and can control about anything you can imagine. I'll write a custom program to manually or automatically process the WVO and incorporate a touch panel to control and monitor system status.

All this gear originally cost about 10K but you can get the parts on ebay for much less since it's outdated technology but still perfectly functional.
