Ford 2.8 liter powerstroke diesel?

6772 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  9ENGEL
I live in El Salvador and just looked at buying a new 2007 Ford Ranger with a 2.8 liter powerstroke diesel engine. I own a 2004 6.0 powerstroke and just love it, but didn't even know they made this 2.8 engine. I'm trying to find out how long this engine has been in production and it's track record to date. I have not found any information what so ever on web, does anyone have info about this engine?

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but did anyone read the wikipedia article about the Powerstoke

According to this article the 6.9, 7.3 IDI, 7.3 powerstroke are all the same engine.
I understand that Wikipedia is not the final word on anything, and since the articles are written/edited by anyone with an internet connection, there can be alot of opinion and twisting of facts.

I just figured someone here might want to correct it.

Why don't you correct it?

I knew someone would say that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif But, I figured one the many people on this site with more knowledge of the differences than I have could produce a better write-up. I don't want to spread any more misinformation.
