I Have a 6.0L 2005 f-650 in the shop they can,y find the problem...they beleive it is the fuel pump..when they put the new one in it still won,t fire up ( no codes) they thought it was the relay and tried to interchange them but to no avael. It started with a stall at an intersection and towed to a dealership that did not have time...towed it out of there to a local deisel truck shop and still no start..turns over won,t fire.. I need this truck running and hope I can relay some possible clues to look for so thay can try them..he can't seem to get the pump to work when he turnes the key on and was tracing from there..is there some other power source such as relays fuses and where and what numbers ...thanks

i would make sure he is getting power (12v) at the pump. if not check the fuse and the fuel cut off switch. a bad fuel pump isnt going to make it stall out out of no where its gonna run like crap for a min hesitate no power get worse and worse then funnally stall out, so if it shut right off thats not your problem.

just realized its a 650, so im not sure i hardly work on them, but its probly in the owners manual, in the smaller trucks its in the passenger side kick pannel theres a hole cut out to stick your finger in and push a button down.

I certainly can't help here. The F650 is powered by a VT365 - quite different from the 6.0PSD in many respects.

You will need to find a shop that has access to a scan tool loaded with the MD software. The usual Ford IDS sort of can do it, but the dealership you chose will have had to pay the subscription fees to enable the software. We've only seen a couple of 650s in the past several years so it really isn't worth our while (and we don't sell these trucks, either).

The only other option is take it to a International dealership,Yeah I know you cant be towin it all over hell)I work at one and Have Done relashes on a Couple F-650's over the years and It has Internationals software. So like said a Regular Ford dealer that just sells pickups prolly wont have the software compatible to diagnose the issue.I am also Inclined to lean towards a High pressure Oil problem IMO.You need to have it hooked up to a Laptop check codes, check ICP while cranking and see whats goin on there. They are Notorious for STC issues and cracked branch tubes.Proper diagnostics is gonna get you where you need to be as far as a fix.

I remember there being an entire kit that includes a new pump, housing, and drive gear. I looked real quick but couldn' find it. The fuel pump on that truck is driven off the flywheel, not electrical. They are a major PITA to start after fuel pump replacement. If the pump failed make sure the strainer isn't full of metal.

They are pretty robust. On a VT 365 Actually it is a combination Powersteering and Fuel pump in tandem as one.I have NOT seen many fail. What does happen though is the Idler gear in the rear geartrain that runs off the Crank cluster gear has had issues with its bearing failing and hence Fuel pump issues. This small gear has alot of stress on it driving that pump assy.I have done alot of Soft gear recalls on 04's but the design has been revised and a 05 "should" have a new style gear in it,If they are Not seeing any fuelpressure with a New Pump on it,I would pull the pump and Look in at the Idler gear if there is obvious gear damage or you can feel excess slop or play then I would say that is the issue.I have never seen one come apart they usually will whine like hell though when the engine is running.I am betting STC or Branchtube.
