Can anybody tell me what the factory hitch is rated for on a 2004 F-350? the max tongue weight etc. Thanks very much in advance.

My 2004 F-350 factory reciever hitch says the following:
........................Tounge Weight Trailer Weight
Weight Distributing 1500 lb 15000 lb

Weight Carrying 600 lb 6000 lb

For 2004 model year, most F-350 SRW optional receivers were rated at 12,500 pounds with a weight-distributing {WD) hitch and 5,000 (or maybe 6,000) pounds with a weight carrying (WC) hitch.

Some very few were rated at 15k/6k. Beginning with 2005 models, the 12.5k receiver was available on SRWs and the 15k receiver was available on DRWs.

The rating will be stamped on the frame of the receiver,

Interesting, mine's a 15/6 on an SRW. Of course anything over 12k would exceed my GCWR, but why would Ford care about that?

I know you find that info on the hitch, but my sticker has both sets of info. How do you know which you really have?
