I bought some ford touch up paint arizona beige for my truck. Applied it to a small chip and the color is quite a bit lighter than the original paint. What could be the problem?

Either the wrong color or it needs clear coat to darken the color or makes it match better. That would be my guess.

Would the clear coat actually darken the color? Can you get a small amount of touchup clear coat from anywhere? Thanks

any place that sells touch up paint has clear. all clear touch up paint is the same. put it on and see what happens. alot of colors require clear in order to match. generally, the last 2 digits in the color would be cc if it required clear coat.
