How do I know if I have forged or PMRs? What's the easiest way to tell without having to pull the motor out of the truck? If there's an easy way to find out I'd like to know. I'd rather know that I have forged rods from the factory than to spend $1800.00 (what ford quoted me) just to have them yank the motor and put it back in...not including taking the labor of finding out what kinda rods I have. Or am I best just to buy aftermarket forged rods and take the chances that even if I do have factory forged rods to just swap them out. Better to be safe than sorry?

Do you have to crank the engine to see this? Or will it be obvious no matter what position stuff is in?

Just look at the rod big end bolts.PMR's have bolts and forged have nuts. Also I did not have to rotate the engine.Mine is a 2001 with a engine build of oct 14th and it has pmr's /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif
