I am rather surprised my recent post on 'Phone Sex & Workmans Comp.' was promptly deleted. The text of this post was directly quoted from a Reuters News Service article published in newspapers read by millions, plus was amply blasted by Jay Leno on the 'Tonight Show'. My comments on the subject were obviously in jest, not to be taken seriously, and reflected my viewpoint that this workmans comp. claim settlement was an outrageous ripoff and an insult to common sense, a viewpoint I'm sure shared by most ford-dieselers and most Americans anywhere.

I have no problem with the right of www.ford-diesel.com to pass judgement on and delete any forum post, but I do think there ought to be an up front list of taboo topics
as guidelines. I also think it would be common courtesy to email an explanation to the sender as to why his post is unsuitable.

True... I've seen a few topics mysteriously disappear. It would be nice to at least have a comment that it was inappropriate and why... IMO.

This article was not only on Reuters but on one of the major news channels.

I don't think it was your post that was bad, I think it might have been some responses. I agree there should be some guidelines posted if that is going to happen. I didn't find them offensive, but others may have. Oh well just my opinion.

OK, Jason,I re-read the rules and saw "sexually oriented" as a no-no topic. I agree, per the rules, my post was properly deleted. However this 'sex' rule is rather nebulous, virtually every living thing is 'sexually oriented' one way or the other, and hardware stores are full of bolts, nuts, plugs , sockets etc., all classified 'male'or 'female' as referenced to sex similarity.
Having a baby is 'sexually oriented'. The term "sexually explicit" is used in passing laws against same, and would seem more appropriate for the forum rules.

My deleted post wasn't concerned with 'sex', it was about an affront to Florida taxpayers and anybody's common sense. Except for the words "phone sex" (which I admit I haven't the slightest idea about), the only other 'sexually oriented' word in this newspaper article read by millions, was the 'M-word', a word typically found in Jr.High School textbooks. As a matter of fact, 'M-word' procedures were proposed to be taught in public schools by our enlighted Clinton Administration. Undoubtedly, most ford- dieselers had a definite opinion on this idea.

Ford- dieselers are proven unique independent thinkers and doers not intimidated by politicians, tree huggers and other mass manipulators. The 'Other' Forum is one oasis of reality in a mostly make-believe world. I think the forum should accomodate any subject in the public interest, especially one already making the rounds in public opinion.
Certainly, porn, profanity, slander, etc. are not in the public interest.

I didn't delete it, one of the moderators did, so I don't really know what it said. It's always a subjective opinion on these kinds of things, sorry. I don't know any way else to do it. Even if your original message wasn't subject to those rules, it may have been generating lots of off-color replies. The best solution in that case is to either lock the thread or delete it.

I agree with JLester, we just don't need the hassle of it all. there are other places for such opinions. Lets keep it to Power Stroke business. that doesn't mean it can't be humorous, etc.

The "Other" forum is my favorite. I initially came here for PSD info, but over time I found myself checking "Other" first. I still look at the "99 up forum" every time I log in, but the "Other forum" is for the thinking man (or woman). Good debates are found here on a regular basis.
